Mr. Stink Stank (Book Review)
“Mr. Stink Stank. He also stunk. And if it is correct English to say he stinked, then he stinked as well.”
Have you ever met the “ stinkiest
stinky stinker who ever lived?” Well, that`s Mr. Stink. He with his dog,
Duchess, who is also smelly, occupied a bench in town one day. For a while, no
one wanted to go near the old tramp. Until, one faithful day, a lonely and
slightly unpopular girl named Chloe, decided to pay him a visit.
Why you ask would Chloe ever want to go
near such a smelly man? Well, unlike the other girls at her posh school in
Britain, she had a very extraordinary imagination. Every time she would pass
Mr. Stink in her car, she would wonder what his past was, or why he suddenly
appeared in this town. When Chloe finally was brave enough, she visited Mr.
Stink and they became good friends. She told him how she was least favored by
her strictly posh mom, overshadowed by her younger sister, bullied at school,
and could never quite fit in. When her mother runs for parliament, her mother wants
to ban all tramps and send them out of the city! How will Chloe save her
friend, Mr. Stink?
The author, David Walliams, is an actor and
writer. His debut children`s novel, The Boy in the Dress, was published in
2009. He was raised in Surrey and does charity work.
I would recommend this book for kids and
young adults. I like this book because
it taught me to never judge a book by its cover no matter how stinky it is. Mr. Stink and Chloe`s personalities made me
laugh and smile. Chloe`s actions of kindness deeply touched my heart. At the
end I learned that if you love someone, let them go.
